Principal's message

Hello Orchard Farms Family!

We are proud to work together to have our children be the best they can be. Each day, we strive to support the students and build their academic skills, as well as their social emotional skills. It is our goal to develop confidence as learners, build critical thinking and strong self-concepts. We emphasize the importance of being a good person and a kind, empathetic friend from PreK to Fifth Grade.

There are many different programs planned for the year and we are excited to return to a school year where we can bring in speakers, presenters, and volunteers. The teachers have begun planning some fun and educational field trips and the dedicated, hard-working PTO has been planning school-wide and family events.

A few highlights include our first grade students have lessons each week by instructors from Inspiring Minds. They learn about emotional regulation and coping strategies, building their own personal “toolbox”. This has been very helpful for first graders. They are open and based on the last few years, this is a nice approach to handling situations that seem difficult. While students in grade 4 have been working with scientists from Save the Bay. This grant has provided lessons in school and field trips out in the environment. The lessons have been intriguing and the hands-on trips really bring the learning to life.

We will begin building-wide focus on building stamina, determination, and a growth mindset. “No one is perfect – that’s why pencils have erasers.”  – Wolfgang Riebe. Students can learn the academics but we need them to strive each day to do their best. Positive Office Referrals will be implemented to share good news. Also, we have joined with Alan Shawn Feinstein. The message of his foundation has always been that we need to be thinking of and supporting one another with kindness and good deeds. This also aligns with our work with Special Olympics and a mission to support each child where they are and give them all the opportunities possible, so they can be the best they can be.

Great things are happening at Orchard Farms!

Warm Regards,

Principal Cheri Sacco
