Message from Nurse Nancy and Nurse Ellen

Dear Parents/Guardians:

It is always a pleasure to care for your children each school year. As the school nurses, our job is to help keep your child healthy. Our door is always open to discuss any health problems you may have. Children learn best when they are healthy, well rested, and have had nutritious meals and snacks.
When your child is sick: Please keep them home from school for the following symptoms and remain out until the symptoms have stopped for 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medicine such as tylenol or motrin):
Temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher
Diarrhea or Vomiting
Suspicious undiagnosed rash and/or itch
Frequent, congested cough
Yellow or green drainage from nose and/or eyes

A student who is seen by a physician and started on antibiotics for a bacterial infection should stay out of school for 24 hours after treatment has begun. All incidences of communicable diseases such as chickenpox, head lice, impetigo, flu, strep throat, fifths disease, scarlet fever, & herpes simplex should be reported to the school nurse.

MEDICATION POLICY: Medication Authorization Form ( Click to access form)

Any medication to be given at school must be signed by both parent and physician before it can be given. For safety reasons, all medications need to be properly labeled and brought to school by parents. Please do not send medication in with students. Any questions feel free to call the health office.

HEALTH FORMS: All state mandated health forms for students entering 1st and 4th grade are to be completed by the student's physician. In addition, Dental forms were also sent to all other grades. Please return these forms as soon as possible. Otherwise your child will be seen by the school physician and/or school dentist.

If your student has a health condition or needs special care during the school day such as medication, treatments, or monitoring, please inform the school nurses. Individual health care plans help keep your students safe and healthy.

Feel free to call us if you need assistance with any of the above.
